Our association maintains a scholarship fund celebrating the achievements of our young adults and encouraging post-secondary education. Each year, every high school graduate from Rodanthe, Waves and Salvo is eligible for this scholarship assistance, immediately upon graduation or for two years thereafter.

Financial resources for education beyond high school may be directed to tuition, books or other incidental direct education costs or indirect costs, such as transportation, uniforms, supplies or tools needed for technical studies or career studies.

Each May, the civic association honors the current year's scholarship recipients and their families with a dinner. In 2011, the dinner will be held Thursday, May 5.

Funds to support the program come from contributions made by the community and association members. Additionally, our scholarship committee maintains mint machines in several businesses and the Blue Whale, Sea Treasures and Ocean Gourmet each keep a change jar for the scholarship fund.
